About the Artist
Ami Cat is an artist and creative from Seattle, Washington who works within the realm of many different mediums including drawing, collage, screenprint, and photography. Exploring different traditionally feminine elements such as glitter, the color pink, and other sparkly things, she focuses much of her work on the intersection of being feminine and the burden that comes with femininity.
Drawing from previous movements of feminism such as the Guerilla Girls, she aims to bring sarcasm and sass into many of the works she creates, while still putting forward a very feminine front. By showing art in local Seattle galleries and shows, she has become known for her use of hot pink and glitter in her work.
Aside from personal, more “traditional” artwork, Ami has an interest in tattooing, drawing much of her inspiration from the thick, bold, and dark linework of traditional style tattooing. Upon receiving her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Visual Art from the University of Washington, she hopes to pursue a career in the tattoo industry whilst continuing to create hot pink, glittery art to combine aspects of fierce femininity that arise from both sides of the spectrum of her work.
